Profile
Half Canadian Razale has truly evolved since brandishing two pairs of pliers, a bead mat and an eclectic mix of beads. Originally, she focused on designing costume jewellery. After being introduced to the versatility of precious metals by an established silversmith, several years later, she became fascinated and chose to pursue working in this medium.
Razale then went on to gain invaluable insight into working with precious metals whilst training at the bench under accomplished jeweller Rosemary Brightmore.
Constantly looking to extend her techniques and develop new skills, Razale still works at the bench with Rosemary.
Each individual piece of jewellery is hand crafted by Razale. She works using traditional silversmithing techniques. Often an intricate process, which involves saw piercing, annealing metal and soldering. Metal is then polished or textured using an intriguing array of materials and tools to produce exciting detail and elaborate designs.
As a singer and writer, Razale wanted to find a way of incorporating words into her designs. Taking inspiration from vivid shapes, rich textures and beautiful colours observed on bustling street life, Razale has launched an eye catching new range of jewellery. Inscribed messages in French are showcased in the work, which lend an enigmatic feel to the designs.
After living overseas for eleven years, Razale returned to her roots in North Devon with her French husband and bi-lingual dog. Always creative, Razale constantly immerses herself into the Flambeaux workshop where rustic sketches are fabricated into solid forms of jewellery. She thrives on the personal challenges this work brings.
Many of her collections are exhibited in a selection of North Devons' prestigious galleries.
Razale has designed and made commission pieces of jewellery for clients as far afield as the USA and Holland.
